IDE or integrated development environment is a software application that provides a broad facility to computer programmers for software development.

In short, an IDE consists of a source code editor, build automation tools and a debugger. Nowadays IDEs also have a class browser, an object browser, and a class hierarchy diagram for use in object-oriented software development.

Example of known IDE’s: Visual Studio, Pycharm, Xcode ++ and PHPStorm.
