CGI is the application of computer graphics to create or contribute to images in art, printed media, video games, films, television programs videos or simulators.

The scene or scenes could be be dynamic or static, two-dimensional (2D) or three-dimensional (3D). However CGI is mostly commonly used for 3D computer graphics, or special effects scenes in films and television.
